Insure the policy is enabled.
Note the relevant policy information. Examples:
What printer are they trying to assign
To whom?
If IP address related, get, note, and verify IP addresses.
A screenshot of the policy from the Admin UI might be useful
If the assignment is not coming through, verify security settings allows the assignment.
For example, if “User 1” is assigned “HP 1020”, but “User 1” does not have the proper security to subscribe to “HP 1020”, the assignment will not work.
There will be a warning level log in the server’s log file if this occurs.
- Here’s what support can check in the case a customer is having an issue with assigning a printer via a Computer (Windows only) name.
- On the Windows computer that should get the assigned printer, open a Command Prompt
- Type Set
- Find COMPUTERNAME= in the list and see what that’s set to – Is that what’s entered into the Policy condition? Note: The condition test is case-insensitive.
