  • Insure the policy is enabled.

     

  • Note the relevant policy information.  Examples:

    • What printer are they trying to assign

    • To whom?

    • If IP address related, get, note, and verify IP addresses.

    • A screenshot of the policy from the Admin UI might be useful

       

  • If the assignment is not coming through, verify security settings allows the assignment.

    • For example, if “User 1” is assigned “HP 1020”, but “User 1” does not have the proper security to subscribe to “HP 1020”, the assignment will not work.

    • There will be a warning level log in the server’s log file if this occurs.

  • Here’s what support can check in the case a customer is having an issue with assigning a printer via a Computer (Windows only) name.

 

  1. On the Windows computer that should get the assigned printer, open a Command Prompt
  2. Type Set
  3. Find COMPUTERNAME= in the list and see what that’s set to – Is that what’s entered into the Policy condition?  Note:  The condition test is case-insensitive.
