New Features and Enhancements

  • Concurrent licensing grace period was enhanced to tolerate more network related error conditions.
  • Support for multiple IP's/network adapters is now supported when retrieving the IP address for a server.

  • Printer preferences set through Advanced Print Features (APF) are reused on future print jobs until preferences are changed through APF.  This allows print server printers to retain user changed settings for the lifetime of their session.

Improvements and Fixes

  • Several installer bugs were fixed.
  • Installers will not attempt to install .NET on Windows 10 platforms since .NET is native-ally supported on Windows 10.
  • Corrected permissions when creating events for processing of PDF print jobs.
  • Several logging related enhancements were made to better detect and report error conditions.
  • The ScrewDrivers Print Server v6 service name has been changed to the Simplify Print Server v6.  The service executable has changed from sdservice.exe to Simplify Print Server v6.exe.
  • A bug was fixed in the Simplify Print Server v6 service when processing badly formed print jobs.
  • Several memory and resource handle leaks were fixed the in the ScrewDrivers virtual print driver.
  • The Simplify Notification Service service logs the current Desktop Heap setting for debugging.

Known Issues

  • When installing on German, French, Spanish or Japanese native language operating systems, you must use the native language for the installer.  Failure to do so may compromise the un-install at a later date.  You may safely change the display language for Tricerat products after the install.
  • Refresh All Printers on a print server object will fail in the Simplify Console when the Tools->Options->Object Pane "Perform Query Printers as a Background Task" is enabled/checked.  Please un-check this option and Refresh All Printers will work as expected.
  • Print Server Control Panel, Services tab, does not control the Simplify Print Server v6 service due to a name change for this version.  Use traditional Services interface if you need to Start or Stop the "Simplify Print Server v6" service.
  • Simplify Printing was unable to build printers due to SQL query errors from a SQL Server 2017 instance.
