Version 7.1.2 Release Notes

Previous Release

Version 7.1.2 was released in August 2021 and has been succeeded by newer versions.

Important

Before installing this version, your Tricerat Licensing Server must be upgraded to v5.4.9.15 or later!  The upgrade to v5.4.9.15 Tricerat Licensing Server needs to be completed before upgrading any server session agent to avoid license checkout issues!  See this page for upgrade instructions: Upgrading Your License Server  The latest version is v5.4.9.15

Version 7 products are not compatible with version 6 activation codes. You will need new activation codes for version 7 products. Please contact your Salesperson for more information.

Important

Before installing this version, you must install the .Net 4.8 Runtime. Failure to do so will prevent license activation of a nodelocked license and all UI’s will fail to run due to its dependency on this version of .Net.

Product Refocus

New Features and Enhancements

  • ScrewDrivers Direct now allows driver updates for existing drivers.

  • ScrewDrivers Print Server Printing has added support for Cameyo environments.

  • ScrewDrivers Notification Service allows multiple product plugins to be sorted by Priority. We also added a configurable delay for VDI environments.

  • ScrewDrivers Gateway now monitors the database for changes to print server configuration and automatically updates registry cache for print servers.

  • A new ScrewDrivers Client has been released on the Linux OS. Follow these install instructions:

    • Copy the ScrewDrivers_Linux_Installer.tar.gz archive to the client machine.

    • Extract the contents of the archive by running the command: sudo tar -xf ScrewDrivers_Linux_Installer.tar.gz

    • Navigate to the new created directory: cd ScrewDrivers_Linux_Installer

    • Run the install script: ./INSTALL.sh

Improvements and Fixes

  • ScrewDrivers Administration now displays Group inheritance of assignments. A Owner name bug has been fixed.

  • ScrewDrivers Scanning has bug fixes that could result in client crashes. A few performance enhancements were made.

  • ScrewDrivers Scanning Client has reduced the time required for ICA registration.

  • ScrewDrivers Database Connection.exe has a bug fixed when Testing Static Windows Authentication.

Deployment and Platform Changes

  • All support for any 32bit OS has been dropped.

  • All support for Desktop OS’s prior to Windows 10 and Server OS’s prior to 2012 R2 have been dropped.

  • .Net 4.8 Must be installed prior to any Version 7 installer. Because it is no longer installed as a Windows Feature it cannot be included directly in our installers as a pre-requisite.

  • All high-permission requirement database actions (create, init and update) for Pro and Enterprise are moved to a separate installer that is run once per environment. This installer is called ScrewDriversDatabase_<version>_x64.exe. The main installer ScrewDriversProOrEnterprise_<version>_x64.exe now only requires basic read and write access to the Tricerat database.

  • Authorization for ScrewDrivers Administration is now built in as a core feature. This feature gets initialized when running the ScrewDrivers Database installer. Initially Domain Admins, Local Admins for the machine where the installer is run and the user running the Database installer will be Super Admins. From there you can give out permissions to other users via the Permissions tab in ScrewDrivers Administration.

Known Issues

  • For ScrewDrivers Pro/Enterprise, if no ScrewDrivers config is assigned, ScrewDrivers Endpoint will not build printers. The same is true for ScrewDrivers Scanning. This will be fixed in a future release to just use default values. In the meantime, make sure all Users have or inherit a valid ScrewDrivers and Scanning configuration object.

  • ScrewDrivers Print Job Reporting will not report an accurate job size when the print job exceeds 2 GB in size. This will be addressed in a future release.

  • The ScrewDrivers Client may have permissions issues when using the macOS and RDP protocols. This will be addressed in a future version due Q4 2021.

  • The ScrewDrivers Administration console may not properly display assignments for Custom or Local Owners after re-opening the console. This will be corrected in the next version due Q4 2021. A workaround does exist; just turn on the “Load all owners at startup, rather than on demand (may increase start time)” option. This option can be found under File->Options. Note: This option will take effect the next time ScrewDrivers Administration is started.
