Version 6.2.0 Release Notes

Previous Release

Version 6.2.0 was released in December 2016 and has been succeeded by newer versions.

New Features and Enhancements

  • Full support for Windows Server 2016 - With the release of Windows Server 2016 by Microsoft in October 2016, Simplify Suite and ScrewDrivers is now fully compatible with the released version of the operating system.

  • Service Based Printers - Service Based Printers is a separate install for servers that require print queues to be created automatically by a service, without requiring a user login. Printers are created with the same name each time, allowing other applications or services to use these queues to print batch or automated jobs. This is often needed by backend printing systems from EPIC or other EMR applications.

  • Active Directory import of named users from license console - To simplify the assignment of named user licenses, the Tricerat license console now offers a drag-and-drop interface and a view of the Active Directory for the current domain.

  • Compatibility between Advanced Print Features (APF) and Shared Virtual Queues (SVQ) - Previously, a Shared Virtual Queue was unable to take advantage of APF. With 6.2.0, a SVQ can also utilize the advanced properties for a printer.

  • Compatibility between Simplify Scanning and Simplify Suite - Simplify Suite 6.2.0 and Simplify Scanning can be installed side-by-side without conflict for users that need both printing and scanning from the same client.

  • An updated version of the ScrewDrivers Client for macOS is in progress with reliability improvements, image quality improvements, second print dialog support, and auto-updating client support. The macOS client is in a pre-release state at the official release of Simplify Suite 6.2.0, and can be obtained by contacting Tricerat Support.
