Slow Print Speed of Large Documents over ICA

Slow Print Speed of Large Documents over ICA

Problem

A bug has been identified in ScrewDrivers Server 4.8.3 (bundled with Simplify Printing 5.8.3) where on some systems a delay is introduced on large print jobs sent to a ScrewDrivers Client connected with ICA.

Solution

The resolution is an update to a server DLL that manages the traffic to clients through the ICA virtual channel in a way that does not result in a delay. The issue was identified after the release of 4.8.3, known to affect 4.8.2 and 4.8.3, and resolved in v6.

Tricerat has created a patch for Simplify Printing 5.8.3 and ScrewDrivers 4.8.3. This is included in version 6.1.0 and higher.

To install this patch, download this file and perform the following steps:

  1. Replace sd4prdp5.dll in Windows\System32, renaming the old dll.

  2. Replace sd4pica6.dll in Windows\System32, renaming the old dll.

  3. If using Simplify Printing, replace sd4ptcp.dll in Windows\System32, renaming the old dll.

  4. Restart the Print Spooler Service.
